Lightning Risk Assessment

Lightning Risk Preliminary Assessment

Share your facility’s exposure, operational consequence and existing protection condition. Your preliminary assessment is sent only to your verified email address.

Facility type

The province is matched with WWLLN Global Lightning Climatology long-term lightning stroke density for 2010–2020. This is not an official IEC NG/NSG value.

What does it assess?

This tool produces an indicative preliminary assessment of how urgently lightning-related risk at your facility should be addressed. Your answers are scored under three headings: lightning exposure, operational consequence and the gap in existing protection. Together they give a low, medium or high priority level.

Which inputs are used?

  • Facility profile: facility type and the province in Türkiye. The province is matched with WWLLN Global Lightning Climatology 2010–2020 (0.5° grid) long-term lightning stroke density.
  • Exposure: structure height (under 10 m, 10–30 m, over 30 m) and the surrounding setting (dense, partly exposed, exposed or dominant).
  • Operational consequence: people density and how critical the operation is.
  • Protection status: lightning protection system, surge protection (SPD) and periodic earthing checks.

What does the result mean?

The report gives the overall priority level, a separate level for each of the three headings and the factors that raised them. A high priority means the site data and existing protection should be reviewed by an engineer first. "Unknown" answers also add to the protection-gap score, because protection whose condition has not been confirmed is treated as a gap.

Limits

  • The result does not replace a formal IEC 62305-2 engineering risk assessment.
  • The lightning density used is climatology context, not a validated NG/NSG value for IEC 62305-2.
  • The tool covers provinces in Türkiye only.
  • The result is not shown on this page; it is sent only to your verified email address.

Frequently asked questions

When do I receive the report?

After you submit the form, a verification link is sent to your email address. Once you open it within 24 hours, the report is sent to the same address.

Is this an IEC 62305-2 risk assessment?

No. It is an indicative prioritisation based on your answers. A formal risk assessment is carried out by our engineering team using site data.

I do not know the condition of my existing protection. Can I still use it?

Yes. Choose "Unknown". The answer adds to the protection-gap score and is listed as a factor in the report.

What happens after I receive the report?

Using the link in the report, you can ask the Asiva engineering team to contact you or indicate that it is not needed for now.
